Snapchat, the social media app, launched its own My AI chatbot powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT on Monday. Yes, the same ChatGPT that has been making headlines recently. However, this chatbot has been tailored specifically for Snapchat.

My AI chatbot is only available to Snapchat+ users who pay $3.99 monthly to access exclusive features. Snapchat has encouraged users to ask My AI for dinner or gift suggestions, create weekend plans, and even write a haiku about cheese. The chatbot will eventually be available to all Snapchat users.
The company has expressed, “as with all AI-powered chatbots, My AI is prone to hallucination and can be tricked into saying just about anything.” And added, “Please be aware of its many deficiencies and apologize in advance!” As a result, it may be difficult to determine what is true and what is not.
However, Snapchat employees will be reviewing stored conversations to improve accuracy. So, refrain from disclosing your deepest, darkest secrets or advice. If there is any incorrect, misleading, or harmful information, the company allows you to submit feedback by pressing and holding on to any message from My AI.
Even the company’s co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel said this about AI:
The big idea is that in addition to talking to our friends and family every day, we’re going to talk to AI every day. And this is something we’re well positioned to do as a messaging service.
The feature is expected to be available this week, so Snapchat+ subscribers should watch for this update. Snapchat incorporating its own version of ChatGPT into the app is pretty cool. However, it’s only a matter of time before users start asking questions that cause it to malfunction, similar to Bing’s ChatGPT.
