Ninja-K #9 is pure action!!! Ninjak, Livewire, Dr. Mirage, and Punk Mambo are in a massive action-packed battle that never lets up throughout the entire issue. I couldn’t help but think that this particular team would make a great Unity. All of us Valiant fans want a new Unity book and this would be a great team to fill those pages.
Ninjak not only faces the entity possessing The Eternal Warriors body, but he also faces the Dying One who is just dying to make a possession of her own. As for Dr. Mirage, I like seeing her in action. Her solo title runs have been reserved and horror-tinged, but she can definitely hold her own in a massive battle. As for Punk Mambo, she’s a Valiant fan favorite and it is always a delight to see her in action. Livewire had more action in the last issue but you have to think, this issue kind of ran concurrently to it for part of it anyway.
When it comes right down to it, Valiant would like you to think that Harbinger Wars 2 is the big summer event, but I have to say that this current story arc in Ninja-K has been even more exciting to read through. This book has just about everything one could want right now. It has the action, it has the story, and it has the evolving characterization that is actually showing something deeper within Colin King. Writer Christos Gage is taking the story into interesting directions that you want and need to explore. Meanwhile, Juan José Ryp is creating amazing visuals that are unique and constantly delighting the eye. When the story and art come together it’s near perfect.
Wrap Up
This is a book that everyone should be buying and reading. Without a doubt, this is the BEST book that Valiant is currently putting out.
